4/23/08 A few weeks old

The weeks are going by kind of quickly. We have a new routine for now of getting Caleb to daycare in the morning and Cameron and I return home. Then it's a day of bottles, diapers and some naps in between.

Cameron had a doctor appointment last week on the 17th and when they weighed him they did confirm that he's already growing like a weed. Up to 9 lbs, 5 oz. I had a feeling he was growing well as some sleep and play outfits have already gotten a little small on him lengthwise. I can't believe we might already be putting up outgrown clothes.

Last night we had a bedtime of 10 after a 9 o'clock bottle and went until 2 am. We still got up again a little before 5. But, we would have gotten up soon to start the day anyways.

A new challenge will be trying to get Cameron to use his crib. I think we are all are used to the bouncy seat and swing. Every time I try to lay Cameron down in the crib, he wakes up. Of course he is starting to have periods of time that he stays awake for a little while so trying to keep him entertained with different places to sit and things to look at. I'd rather have him up and hanging out with me during the day rather than late at night!!!

I am trying to savor this time at home because I know it will be just a blink of an eye down the road. And things are going to be much busier and more hectic when I go back to work. The afternoon naptime alone will be sadly missed. Ah, nothing lasts forever I guess.

Hope everyone is doing well. Will post again soon when I can.

4/6/08

There's something to be said for waking up early on the weekend with a baby. I am sticking with Cameron's routine of getting up at 6 in the morning for a first feeding and changing him to daytime clothes just like we do during the week. The routine for the little man has been good. A feeding between 10 and 12 and then again around 2 am. Not too shabby.

Spent the day yesterday hanging around the house and couldn't help taking some shots here and there of everyone. Amazingly enough, I caught the "Brothers" moment with the camera. Goes to show that it's good to keep the camera close at hand at all times. Never know when the opportunity will arise.

Well, think it's time for a nice cup of coffee and some breakfast. I imagine the two bigger boys will be waking up soon, lazy butts.

Will post again soon.

Over one week old already

Well, our first week has gone by quickly. Cameron has already had his first checkup at the doctor's. He did well and everything checked out good. Our routines are starting to come together and I think everyone is feeling a little more settled. It will be interesting to see how things are different with our first weekend home all together. It's kind of nice and quiet when it's just Cameron and me.

We are getting some nice stretches of sleep at night from Cameron, sometimes 3 or 4 hours so that's nice. I still find myself sometimes awake late at night and having trouble getting back to sleep. Trying to get up and read a book or listen to relaxing music on my iPod to help me wind back down.

Caleb is proving to be a good big brother. There have been times of him declaring, "I'm the only one". I have since informed him that even before the baby arrived, he was not the only one in the house who wants to watch tv or decide what to do. We've reminded him that he has needed to behave all the time not just because there's now a baby in the house. Had a really great morning from him today so I am hopeful that it is a sign of a new maturity in our first little man.

Well, I'm sure there is loads more to say but can't think of anything right now and I should eat something before it's Cameron's lunchtime.

Hope everyone is doing well. Will write again soon. And will post more pictures soon too.

Take care,

CC
