7 Months (25 Weeks)

Where has this month gone? Between Caleb's birthday and Christmas, the month is busy enough. Throw in a tummy bug for him and a head cold for me and here we are.

Had a nice basic Dr. checkup today. So anticlimatic after our big ultrasound appointment last month. Went over all the latest like the cold which is starting to ease up and the recent increase in need for Tums. Perhaps I can craft a little necklace or belt clip to hold a few on reserve at all times. I can still feel Baby C kicking very low and so I realize that what I feel up under my ribs isn't so much him as just my belly now being so much higher to accomodate for him. Feels much like it did during the end of my pregnancy with Caleb.

I've been reminded of the old wives tale that my indigestion means this baby will be born with a full head of hair. Well, it did prove true for Caleb who always had a lot of hair since birth.

Had a great time with Caleb's birthday on the 8th and now looking forward to the approach of Christmas Day. Caleb is so fascinated with Santa now, visiting with him last weekend and asking for his Christmas wishlist. He's been putting on his own Santa hat around the house and pretending to drive his sleigh, talking about what presents he'll be bringing and saying "Oh oh oh!" Lots of fun.

Not much else to report, just trying to savor the last days of the holiday time before it slips away on us again. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this time too!

Take care,

New Poll

Just for ha has I added a new poll for this month. I know if might be tough to say but, thought I'd throw this out there just to see if anyone has any feelings about Baby C's arrival. Our Plan A is for a scheduled C-section at 39 weeks. Haven't set the date for that yet but, the 39th week is 3/26/08- 4/1/08. I'm leaning towards the 26th.

Caleb came two weeks earlier than his due date. That kind of has been a good indication of his personality as a boy who prefers to run anywhere than walk and is always so active and on the go.

Will Baby C follow in his big brother's example? Or will he take a more laid back approach to things?

Probably too soon to tell but might be fun to guess.

Growing and growing

I've read that this is the time that the baby (and I) will grow a lot. I can tell as the appetite has sure gone up. But, seem to be having to watch what I eat more so I don't have to reach for the Tums too much.

Last week, Baby C had really settled into a spot down low and seemed to be leaning on a nerve that gave me lower back pain. This week he seems to have shifted somehow that has relieved me of that pain so I can take strolls outside at work again which is nice. Of course, he may have shifted upward and that may be why I've had more indigestion. When it really comes down to it, there is only so much room to grow a baby before they start bumping into something!!!

Caleb has gotten really used to the idea of his baby brother coming. Well, as much as an almost three year old can about someone he hasn't met yet. We talk about him often though and this morning Caleb was talking about being the best brother.

Of course right now a lot of attention is on Caleb with his 3rd birthday approaching on Saturday. Plus the excitement of Christmas. He says that he is going to sit on Santa's lap and ask him for a few Christmas presents. Throughout the day, there are other topics that Caleb will say that he wants to share with Santa. I don't know, he could get shy and scared and back out. Or, he might want to settle in and chat for awhile with Santa. It will be interesting to see.

It's fun to watch Caleb this year really becoming interested in Christmas and watching the specials with us and singing the Christmas songs. I can only imagine having two little boys running around the house as we count down to Christmas in the next few years.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season. Take care and talk to you soon.

Caleb talking to his baby brother

Last night all on his own, Caleb started talking to his baby brother in my belly. He wanted to let him know about how he had been using the potty lately. Then he asked if baby brother was growing in Mommy's belly. And then asked if he goes to the doctor. I interpreted Baby C's responses for him and it was a nice little conversation.

Caleb has been going through some adjustments as Carey has gotten a new job and so now it's just Caleb and I getting up in the morning and starting our day together. As he does, he's been acting out a bit more this week now that the newness has worn off. But, hopefully we are almost through the adjustment and will soon return to a bit more "normalness".

Of course it is almost Caleb's birthday and holiday time so things are not totally normal anyways with Christmas trees, Christmas tv specials and lots of little new excitements.

Baby C is growing well, I'm starting to show more consistently and so I've had more questions if I am indeed expecting. I get pretty regular kicking but it's still not in a spot that can really be felt on the outside. Thankfully the little guy seems to be more active in the daytime and the evening after dinner. For now, bedtime has been rest time for both of us.

I can't decide if I have a new craving for Rice Krispies cereal. Unlike the spring rolls, it's easy to have on hand so when I feel like it would be good, I can just go to the kitchen and make a bowl. They really hit the spot as a bedtime snack for me. Nice and mild before going to sleep. Perhaps if we ran out one night, then I'd feel the crazed pregnant lady need to have them and have to send Carey out to the store. For now I just keep stocking up on them and milk so that hasn't happened yet.

Hope everyone is doing well and having a great week. Talk to you soon.

Re-decorated again

I didn't really like the new look I had picked out for the blog or the new ticker. Sorry Caleb! I switched out the turtle for a little blue bear. I think we are going to put a Pooh theme in Baby C's nursery so the bear and the new colors seemed more like what we'll be going with.

I think the Baby had the hiccups the other day from the movement I was feeling. I have found that drinking juice really does get the little guy moving. Also, in the evenings after dinnertime he seems to get active. I figure it's because he hears his big brother Caleb.

Caleb has been so much fun this year during this holiday time. He really enjoys watching all of our Charlie Brown specials that Carey and I have watched for years. Snoopy's antics get big laughs. Looking forward to having two little guys to enjoy these traditions with us and making new ones.

Hope everyone is going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to the Macy's Day Parade as always and have a light load of just some pumpkin pie baking thanks to brother and sister in law doing most of the cooking!!! They are so nice!

Take care and talk to you soon.

Getting used to a boy

Everyone is getting used to the idea of a baby boy coming to live with us. Caleb has really taken to the idea well. His one main concern was that Baby C couldn't have his Cars blankie. But we agreed that we'll get Baby C his own blankie.

Now we can get decorating!!! This weekend will probably be filled with purging of little girl items that had been saved for "in case" and getting geared up for a new nursery. We have saved Caleb's clothes along the way so we'll be able to unpack the smallest ones as soon as we have a dresser. Lots to do, lots to do.

For now, I am trying hard to keep the name of Baby C a secret. It's our one last little surprise. We'll see if it works out though because Carey can't stop spilling the beans!

Hope everyone is well. Take care and talk to you soon.

3 Days until the ultrasound!!!

Man, this waiting seems never ending! But two full workdays and one partial and then we get to go to the doctor again. How ordinary and regular the ones will be ever this one. At least until we get closer to the big day in March.

Caleb has become fascinated with the future nursery room. At first he was calling it "Mommy's Room" but now he knows that it's the baby's room. He seems to have gotten better about having a baby to come live with us. Although not sure if he's more interested in playing with the baby toys which of course were his before. He does like to climb up into the crib but has not regressed about wanting to sleep in his big boy bed. Just don't want him breaking the crib though by climbing in and jumping around in it as he likes to do. He also really enjoys getting into the closet and sitting on the soft crib bedding that I had put in there to store. Looks like it might be good to ensure that there is a spot for him to come and hang out in Baby C's room.

Well, I suppose I will just have to get to work and keep myself busy if there's any hope of making the time pass by for us. Expect a new look here come Wednesday evening as I will "redecorate" starting here first.

Take care and have a good few days.

Braxton Hicks already?

I just went and did some reading on Babycenter.com and I got some eye opening information. What I've been thinking is the baby pushing out on my belly might actually be the tightening up feeling of Braxton Hicks contractions. It's something I will definitely ask my doctor about next week at our appointment. Today I am really getting some aches and pains with this, a sore back and all day I've been feeling warmer while inside working.

I may take a short, slow stroll outside and see if this eases up. In hindsight, maybe all the time I thought Caleb was up in my ribs a lot the first time was actually the tight feeling of these practice contractions. Go figure!

Again, will confirm this next week or with a phone call sooner if they really become bothersome.

Will post more later!

CC

One week to the ultrasound!

Finally the ultrasound is one week away. Still awhile to wait but at least it's getting closer. I've been thinking good thoughts that Baby C will sit right and we'll get a definite answer! I can't wait any longer to know! I've thoughts about the nursery colors and decorations so as soon as we know, I will probably get Carey painting walls and making changes.

Baby C has been energetic again since last evening and today. Really pushing and nudging against my belly. Where are the little baby flutters and delicate kicks? Makes me feel worn out and wish I could go home and just hang out and rest.

We've had some late in the game votes and now the girl votes are in the lead....still a week to cast your vote if you haven't!

Hope everyone is doing well. Take care.

Wait, wait, wait

How is it that it is still two more weeks until the ultrasound??? Time has been going so slowly since we scheduled this appointment. Time is dragging it seems. Now with Halloween today, I wonder if things will drag even more. Thanksgiving doesn't hold quite the same appeal as Halloween and Christmas with decorations, tv specials and such.

I guess at least we've made it through two weeks of waiting. And today is an okay day, Baby C is sitting pretty comfortably so that is a good thing. Not been sleeping as well the last few nights and so perhaps my luck has changed from the good sleeping I was getting before. I have had some times now where the baby will get settled into an awkward and less comfortable position. Baby C seems to favor the left side of my belly.

Not too much to report. We're just chugging along and counting the days for the big ultrasound results. Everyone think good vibes that Baby C will sit right. No baby butt on the 14th, we need to see the goods!

Take care and talk to you all soon.

Active baby today

This morning as I got to work I was thinking that the baby had not been as active in the last day or so. I was remembering though that early on, they can be more and less active and it's not until later that it is more a source of worry.

Then today Baby C decided to get active again. I've been getting nudges and movement most of the day today. Not as much the pressure on the ribs, more the middle of the belly this time. A lot of times pushing on the belly rather than flutters of kicks. Good to know the little one is doing well in there. It is very distracting at work, I must say!

Hope everyone is doing well. Will write more soon. I still can't believe the ultrasound is still so many weeks away!!!

Regular Checkup

Good morning, had our checkup this morning. Nice and basic. Everything is looking good. We got to hear the heartbeat and it was good and strong sounding. I checked and confirmed that I could have a flu shot which I went and had done at work later this morning. Today was just a simple and straightforward appointment without too much excitement. Of course it was nicer to be able to get a date set for the ultrasound appointment. Now just to try and wait patiently until then! With the last appointment getting re-scheduled back a week, they made my next appointment for four weeks from now and so we still have four weeks to find out!!! Oh well, we've waited this long.

I did extend the poll voting time until the morning of the ultrasound appointment for those who are holding out.

We'll try and get an updated picture up this evening. Caleb has been less interested in standing with Mommy for her pictures so we'll see if he'll make an appearance or not.

So far in talking to Caleb, he has been saying "No brother, no sister". Not sure if he understands having a sibling like some of his friends at daycare have or not. We're hoping to involve him and try to win him over in the coming months. We'll see!

I'd better get my workday going. Hope everyone is well and talk to you soon.

New craving

Yesterday I got a new craving for Zingers snack cakes. Either Baby C's sweet tooth has emerged or mine is returning. At least this craving is easier to feed since we can keep these in the pantry. Although I still could go for a Crispy Spring Roll too.

Just thought I'd share as I know some old wives' tales will use the type of food cravings for predicting the gender of the baby. I'll also try and get a more current picture posted soon in case it helps anyone with their vote.

Hope everyone is doing well and has a great day. Talk to you soon.

Added a poll

Well, we've got about a month or so until the ultrasound so....decided to add a poll for fun and see what folks think. We'll see how many of you are right. I was forced to put a closing date on the poll so I put 11/12. Once we get the ultrasound scheduled, I'll adjust it as needed and give you all until the morning of the appointment to cast your vote. Please just vote once, no swaying the results one way or another!!!

The baby's movements are still coming. Haven't been having as much pressure in my rib cage in the last day or so thank goodness. I had a headache that lingered all day yesterday. Thankfully Dad C and Caleb went to the park and I got to lay down and rest for a few hours. Feeling much better today. Looking forward to the weekend though!

I haven't had the spring roll craving as badly lately. At least it hasn't become an everyday thing.

Not too much else to report, it's a good quiet day today so far so I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

Hope everyone is doing well. Take care and will write again soon.

Checkup got re-scheduled

My appointment scheduled for yesterday got re-scheduled due to a big emergency that required two of the OB doctors. It was a bit frustrating to have to re-schedule but I'm sure that the family involved had a much rougher day then me. Now my next checkup is next week on Tuesday at 9:15. So, another week to wait. At least it wasn't my ultrasound appointment to find out the gender!!!

Not much to report. Definitely getting pressure up in my ribs' area, little one is figuring out how to stretch out a leg or something. Still feel pretty small and amazed to feel so much from a baby that is still so tiny. It makes me quite nervous for the remaining 6 months because I know how uncomfortable it got later when Caleb got bigger.

We did a Disney weekend this past weekend and everyone had a wonderful time. Caleb still loves the monorail and buses almost as much as the park rides! He did get his FIRST roller coaster ride though with a kids' one at Magic Kingdom that he just made it for the height requirement. Smiled through the whole thing.

Will write more when there is more to say. Truth be told I'm still dragging from all of the walking, it hit me after we got back and stopped doing so much. Would love to have an afternoon nap about now. If only I had a cubicle with a door!!! Ha ha!

Take care and talk to you all soon.

Baby Flutters

I'm pretty sure that I've had the first baby flutters now. Over the last few days I've been more aware of the movements. They are still very, very subtle and it is possible that I am wrong. I am not sure that the baby can move around too much as far as changing position or sitting higher or lower. But sometimes I do have a feeling under my left rib that feels similar to when Caleb got bigger and seemed to have a head or his butt up under my rib. Perhaps it just my belly that I am feeling and not Baby C. I do think that the little flutters are a bit of kicking though.

We are getting so anxious to know whether Baby C is a girl or a boy! It almost seems like the waiting is worse than it was waiting to find out about Caleb. Maybe because this is the last member to join our family.

My next appointment is next Monday the 8th which we all took off since Caleb's daycare is closed. We're hoping to bring Caleb along to this appointment so that he can hear the baby's heartbeat with us. He's been saying "No brother or sister" when we've talked to him about how he'll be a big brother. So, we'll be working on convincing him that a new baby will be fun to have and that he'll still be loved and special. Plus, it'll be good practice for him coming to the appointment after this one to see us have the ultrasound!

We've got a Disney weekend coming up this weekend so that will be fun for everyone to have a little getaway.

Hope everyone is doing well. Take care and talk to you soon.

About to begin Second Trimester

Well, week #12 is almost over and tomorrow at week 13, a number of my sources say I'm in the Second Trimester, beginning week #4. I plan to savor and enjoy this time as the nausea has eased, my energy is getting back up pretty good and the baby and I are still very small. Well, the baby is.

More and more I take some clothes out of the rotation as they now longer fit. But, much of my maternity clothes still don't fit. I did invest in a stretchy band from one of the materity clothes stores that has paid for itself by making big maternity pants fit for now. Thank goodness for the advancement of options for women today.

I am not sure if I have felt baby movement yet. In the last few days, I've had more than one occasion that I have felt kind of like a pushing sensation as I know I did when Caleb was much larger and I was further in my pregnancy. I know that the baby is still quite small and yet I've had somewhat a lopsided feeling as though the baby were leaning more to one side of my belly. As many have said, with the second baby, I'm sure to feel things differently since my body has been through this once before.

Caleb is still pretty oblivious to the fact that he is going to be a big brother and that a baby is joining our family. We've tried to mention this from time to time. And he's often been told that he's too big for Mommy to carry since she has a baby in her belly. Guess there's still lots of time for him to adjust to the idea. He's been displaying a streak of independence lately and seems to be starting the "I do it" phase. So, this could be good to give him some more freedoms and responsibilities since he's such a big boy now.

Hope everyone is doing well. Will try to get a new picture up soon! Been meaning to take one but just haven't had a chance.

Talk to you soon.

P.S. The Crispy Spring Roll craving has continued and must be satisfied about once a week. Daddy has been sent at least once for a run to get them but not late at night (they close kind of early).

Good checkup appt yesterday

I had a good checkup appointment yesterday. The theme of the day was "everything is on target". The doctor looked over the info that the specialist had sent over and everything is in sync that my due date is 4/1 or 4/2. Since I will be planning to have another C-section, we will schedule that for the 39th week. That means between 3/25-4/1 we will have a new baby in the family.

**IF** Baby C hangs out and goes according to the plan. If Big Brother Caleb is an example, the plan could fly right out the window if this one wants to come earlier in March. At least we'll have an idea in mind of when.

I got to have another ultrasound but wasn't able to get a peek at anything to determine the gender. Darn! I did try and ask. It was amazing though seeing how much bigger and defined the baby is now. We could see the flicker of the heartbeat and watch the arm buds and leg buds moving around. To see that much movement going on inside and not feel it was so strange.

Everything is good and I am set for my next appointment on 10/9. So just more waiting and growing to do. The paperwork they gave me said that a screening ultrasound is done at 18 weeks so that is in line with my expectation that November will be the big month that we find out who is on the way! Seems like it's taking forever until we find out this time. Will just have to be patient.

Hope everyone is doing great. Take care and talk to you soon.

Got a craving

Well, I think this baby likes Asian food. I've got a serious craving now for Thai food from one of our local restaurants. Ate there yesterday with a co-worker and I keep thinking again about Crispy Spring Rolls and Pineapple Fried Rice. May have to see if I can convince Carey to order out for dinner tonight! I don't remember craving anything this bad when I was pregnant with Caleb but this Thai food craving has been going on for a few weeks now. It's not the spicy food people think of, actually a pretty mild chicken and rice dish. I've thought about it at breakfast, lunch and dinner time! Other similar Asian foods have not quite satisfied the craving.

Will try and post another picture soon but there's still not too much to see. Hope everyone is doing well. Will post after next week's appointment.

One week from next checkup

Boy, these once a month checkups seem to be further apart than four weeks. I could go weekly if they would let me hear the heartbeat or get a peek at the baby. Hopefully at next week's appointment, I will hear the heartbeat for the first time. So far we only saw it back on the 10th on the ultrasound. I'm not anticipating another ultrasound at this appointment. Actually, it might not happen at the October appointment either. I'll be 14-15 weeks then, might be a bit early still to determine the gender. It may be November before we get to see.

I think I may safely be in the clear past the morning sickness phase. And, my energy level may be coming back up. About two weeks to go until we move into the second trimester.

I'm stuck in the middle clothing wise, maternity clothes are too big and some of my regular clothes are too small. Trying to wear transitional thing so far. The closet is extra full as I have pulled the maternity clothes out of storage but have not yet started to put away the things that don't fit. All in good time.

Of course now it's September and so in my mind still, fall should be coming. I've lived in Florida about 14 years now and yet I still think of fall's approach as it was in CT! I can't help putting out pumpkins, leaves and fall colors now even though we're still in shorts and short sleeves!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Take care!

Big Transition for Caleb

Caleb made the transition last night to a big boy bed. While shopping for it on Sunday, he wasn't enthusiastic and said "No new bed" at most of the stores. At the last one that we wound up buying the mattress and boxspring from, he was starting to sit on the mattresses a little bit more and singing, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed". So yesterday we weren't sure what the reception would be.

While he was at daycare, Carey and I moved out the crib and Cars toddler bed from his room. We set up the new mattress and boxspring flush on the floor so they aren't too high if he should roll out and he can easily climb in on his own. With his Cars blankie in place and his stuffed animals, we were set. When he got home last night, we showed him the new bed and he was fairly excited right away. He really seemed to like how big it was.

When it was time to go to sleep, he really liked getting under the new sheet and his blankie and hiding with his stuffed animals. We checked on him a few times and he zonked out without issue. And this morning, the only ones that were sleeping on the floor were the stuffed animals. So far, so good. I'm sure we might have some push back at some point. But, for now, the crib is locked up in the front room. The toddler bed is listed for sale on Craigslist. Ideally we can sell the toddler bed and keep the crib hidden for a few months. We'll see!

Let's see, what else. I'm still getting into some of my other outfits and so not having to use the maternity clothes all the time yet. Of course if I had the Jetson's type device to produce whatever food I want right away, I might get even bigger! I seem to crave things that I don't have with me here at work. I try to bring a lot of options but it seems like what I bring, my taste buds don't want. Most times though, healthy fruits, vegetables, cheeses and such are more appealing than some of the processed, junk food. So that's a good thing.

I've had some real aches and pains lately but I know growing with Caleb I had that as well. I'm looking forward to my next doctor checkup on 9/11 to know that everything is growing and developing well. I think I should get to hear the heartbeat that time. But probably won't get a peek at the baby.

Hope everyone is well. Talk to you soon.

Broke out the maternity jeans

Well, I had to do it today. Had to dig out one of my bags of maternity clothes and grab a pair of jeans. The ones in my closet just did not have enough room and give to fit comfortable today. Feels early to be in maternity clothes and the big stretchy waistband is pretty baggy. But, it feels good to be taking deep breaths again. I guess the jeans are the first wardrobe item to go and the last ones you get back into after a baby.

And, there have been a few other things I've worn lately that just seem that bit too snug to be comfortable. At least I can go home on lunch and make a change if need be. When pregnant with Caleb, I made a few emergency trips to Target to buy a different outfit! For some reason things seem to fit okay in the morning and then feel tighter later on.

Its probably due to the fact that I have had more of an appetitite again. A few diet changes, a good supply of Tums and we're doing better. No true cravings yet but I do sometimes get something in mind and kind of want it. Nothing odd right now, just things I eat normally like the Pineapple Fried Rice from a local Thai restaurant. It's very mild but tasty.

Anywho, it's a quiet Friday at work and just counting the hours to 5:00 to go home and relax with the boys. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great weekend.

How do you feel?

Guess I should just learn to give a short, simple answer to this question, "I feel like a pregnant woman". Can't say that I'm not looking forward to hitting 12 weeks which hopefully will be the easier second trimester that most people experience. It would be nice to eat whatever I want again without worries of queasiness and spend time with Carey and Caleb without always feeling tired and needing a nap.

And yet, I am still so glad that we are having this opportunity to add to our family and have another little person to meet and watch as they grow and develop. Caleb is so much fun to observe as he plays and creates.

Tonight when taking a picture, he said, "Wait! Wait!" and had to be included. He's learning that Mommy can't pick him up anymore. We got a book about a new baby. Caleb's favorite part is one of the pictures with a silly expression on the baby's face.

Just trying to enjoy each part of this process as much as I can and giving thanks again that we will soon be completing our family as we've always hoped.

Have a good one and take care!

Big Brother Caleb helps with baby names

The other day we were all riding in the car and I was talking with Carey about possible baby names. All starting with "C" of course! I was saying "How about..., how about...., how about...." Next thing we know, out of the backseat, Caleb pipes up and says, "How about chicken?" Well, it does start with C as did everything I was saying. When that got lots of laughs from Carey and I, he also suggested "How about French Fries" and "How about ketchup".

For the rest of the weekend, whenever he wanted to get us to laugh, Caleb would again say, "How about chicken?" Not knowing at all why it was so funny when he said it the first time.

I fully expect that by the time that Caleb is in about middle school, this story will be met with much eye rolling and protests but, it will be fun to remind him how he suggested we name his sibling "chicken".

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I've been having a rough day myself and I have been wishing that somehow I could just go home and rest on the couch. Just a touch of queasiness and fatique that has lingered ever since this morning. Again, the term "morning sickness" does not really apply.

About 6-7 weeks along now and so about 6 weeks to go before we get out of the first trimester. Fingers crossed that the second trimester will be the easy time that most folks experience. Pretty sure I did with Caleb too. That was before he got so big and sat so high up under my ribs!

Have a good one and talk to you all soon.

First Ultrasound went well!

This morning's first ultrasound went well. Little Baby "C" is right where she or he should be. And the little flicker of a heartbeat was visible on the ultrasound screen. So amazing to see that. Still saw the specialist doctor today who really said that there was no need for me to keep going there. I am very low risk and so can go see the regular OB from now on. The next appointment is 9/11, hope that none of the negative history of that day carries forward for us. Still felt a little hesitant when they said that they had that day open.

Probably won't get to scan the ultrasound this evening as we have an evening of swimming ahead with Carey's extended family. Thank goodness for one way to relieve ourselves from this heat!

Don't know if it's too early for cravings but little Baby "C" definitely wants and needs lots of protein. Last night a gardenburger with pickles, cheese and ketchup was a bedtime snack!

Well, that's all for now. Will post more soon.

Day before first ultrasound

Tomorrow morning is the first ultrasound and our first peek at the baby! Not sure how will be visible but it will still be nice to have a first look. Before this past week, things were very, very quiet. There hasn't really been much to report. This week the indigestion and fatique have hit.

Of course as all moms know, the term "morning" sickness is a lie because there is no guarantee that your discomfort will be limited to the morning. A supply of ginger ale and Saltines crackers is always pretty near at hand for me and I guess I'll keep re-stocking for about another two months.

The super hot Florida heatwave does not help much. We've had heat advisories in our counties a lot lately. A fan and a footrest at my desk help a little bit but I would still kill for a breakroom with a comfy couch. If smokers can have hourly smokebreaks, I should be able to go somewhere and lay down for a little 15 minute break. But, I suppose it would be tough to limit it to just a short break!!!

Big brother Caleb is still mostly in his own little world and not really aware of his sibling on the way. Although, he is still pretty possessive of some of the baby toys that I had moved over to the new nursery to be.

I'll try and post an update some time during the day tomorrow after my appointment. If I have a picture and there is even much of anything to see, chances are I won't have an opportunity to scan it into the computer until the evening at the soonest.

Take care and will update you all again soon.

Need to make room for baby

Well, with a new baby on the way, she or he will need a room. So, time to clean out my last space for hiding packrat goodies. Over time attempts have been made at least to reduce the stuff. But, there always seems to be reasons to keep things. Ah, good thing there are some spots still available in the new Florida room's bookcases and maybe our closet. Maybe a few things can be retained.

Adding a first picture today to show our starting point. In looking at the scrapbook of my pregnancy with Caleb, I still can't remember being as big as I was. Guess I will remember before I know it!

Big brother Caleb is still working on the concept of a baby on the way. He thinks they are cute when seeing them in a store. Hope he still thinks that when one comes home to live with us! He was trying to look at my belly the other day to see the baby inside. We were trying to tell him that the baby is way too little to see yet!

Well, better get back to the cleaning process.

7/27/07 First blog post

Well, today we had another blood test and it showed that the necessary levels are going up. Things are looking good. In two weeks, we have a first ultrasound and will get our first peek at the new little baby. In looking through the pregnancy scrapbook from when Caleb was born, I looked at the early ultrasounds we had then. I anticipate seeing a nice little dot in a few weeks. Won't really give us any ideas of who this new person will look like! Guess we'll have to wait a bit longer for that.

Most of all so far have been feeling tired and HUNGRY!!! Like I did with Caleb, I am craving protein. My first inkling that we were expecting came about a week ago when I felt so ravenous for a turkey burger. I know some might say it would be too soon to feel anything or to know. But, I say that it was a sign for me.

Will share more updates as we know more.
